LightNet v4 Justice Build BUILD DATE 7-24-2004 _____________________________________________________ A b o u t LightNet is an advanced LightWave ScreamerNet replacement developed by Schoenmaekers Raf then released as open source and updated to work with LightWave [6], [7] and [8] by Joe Justice. Joe Justice has now continued development in new features and improvements. Lightnet is free and comes with no tech support or guarantees. If it causes you're computer to blow up, don't blame me :) Should you have a problem PLEASE be sure to check all documentation and web resources before contacting me. Although the Help file is out of date, supplemental text has been provided. The netrendering group at groups.yahoo.com is the official Lightnet forum, but most Lightwave forums, like the one at www.newtek.com, will be able to help you with Lightnet problems. Version 4 is fully compatible with LigthWave [6] [7] and [8] and has all the same functionality as the former Lightnet. It will not work with Lightwave 5.6 or earlier, but does work independent of the earlier versions. So as long as you set each up with different command directories you could run both on one machine at the same time. If you find something that isn't working correctly please let me know at the e-mail address below. _____________________________________________________ Changes from LightNet 3: -Config Number added under Screamer Options menu, bellow config directory. This sets the number in the config files. If your render farm is using Lightwave 8, the number should be 8 since the config files are lw8.cfg and lwext8.cfg. If you are using 6 or 7, it should be 3, since the files are lw3.cfg and lwext3.cfg. If the number changes in future version of Lightwave, you would change this option accordingly. -Every time a scene is added, edited, duplicated or reloaded the time is recorded. The screamer then loads a scene based on that time. Before the screamer would load based only on the scene file name. Meaning if you have two scenes with the same file name stacked on top of each other, you reload a scene or edit a scene's setting, the screamers will now properly reload each of the scenes rather than continuing the render the other scene with the same file name. -Time calculation has been fixed in the info panel and is now accurate and working properly -Options ini file name has been changed to Lightnet4Options.ini -New splash screen and icon has been created _____________________________________________________ O n l i n e Check out the web site for more information www.joejustice.org _____________________________________________________ U p d a t e s & Q u e s t i o n s If you want to stay informed check out the netrendering group at groups.yahoo.com If you would like to report a bug contact me at joe@joejustice.org I n s t a l l a t i o n Check out the excellent install.html tutorial created by Rob Powers To optimize the setting for your network look at optimize.txt _____________________________________________________ Joe Justice joe@joejustice.org
